About Cellular Jail

Cellular Jail is one of the most Significant monuments Indian History and the fight for Indian Independence. It is the prime attractions of Andaman Islands. It used to serve as a maximum security Prion and served as solitary confinementfor all prisoners in Exile under the British Colonial Rule. Being Isolated and surrounded by Natural barriers this jail in Port Blair was popularly known as Kala Pani. Today, the complex serves as a national memorial monument and houses a museum that chronicles the struggle of Indian freedom fighters.

How to Reach Cellular Jail from Port Blair

The Light and Sound Show at Cellular Jail is organized by the government authorities The show takes place every day of the week at 05:15 pm, 06:20 pm and 7:25 pm for a Hindi performance and at 8:30 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends. The English version of the show is performed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 08:30 pm only.
